A Weekend Recap on a Late Monday Night

MLB

It was a tough weekend to be a Yankee fan, as they walked into Fenway Park and looked like like complete LOSAHs. Some classic “Boone Ball” as the folks like to say, regarding the Yankees lazy effort, sloppy defense, and Little League base running skills. Multiple errors from Volpe, base running blunders from El Jasson and Ben Rice, and a 9 strikeout series from the Captain, Aaron Judge. On the bright side, the Yankees pitching remained strong, as the team got strong starts from Yarborough, Rodon and Fried, as well as strong outings from the pen. After this weekends sweep by the Redsox, the Yanks fall to 1-5 vs the now above .500 Redsox. Luckily, for the Yankees they remain in first place due to a strong start to the season.

When the Yankees and Redsox get together for a series you expect fire works, but this time the fireworks came as the teams were being their travel process for their next series. When Jeff Passan broke the news on Elon’s playground, that the Redsox were trading Rafael Devers to the Giants for starter Kyle Harrison, reliever Jordan Hicks and prospects James Tibbs and Jose Bello. Redsox nation has been in complete shambles since the move shattered the league all across the country. My buddy, has been ghost since the trade was announced, I am not even sure if he is alive as I type out this masterpiece. A day he thought would never come, has slapped him right in the face after Redsox nation experienced such a high, sweeping the Yankees. Just as they saw the light, a truck hit them dead on and showed them the darkness.

NHL

The Panthers are now one game away from hoisting the Stanley Cup for the 2nd consecutive season in a row, and second time in a row vs Conor McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers. The Panthers have been the Panthers throughout the postseason, implementing their size, strength and aggressiveness against their opponents. A huge Game 5 win at Edmonton, leads them back to the Sunrise State, with the Cup in the Palm of their hand. As a Bruins fans, I love watching Marchand take over and look like his younger self. Guy has been a man on a mission this postseason since getting a chance to win a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panther. Dirtbag Sam Bennett, has also looked strong this series and postseason, netting 15 goals. The soon to be UFA is widely expected to return to the Panthers once the season is finished.

UFC

An Atlanta Fight Night Card concludes with old man Kamaru Unman back. The God damn Boogeyman with a decisive 5 round victory vs Joaquin Buckley, showing those knees are still intact after a long layoff. A strong home showing for Augusta, Georgia native Malcom Wellmaker, who scored a first round knockout against UFC Returnee Kyle Mountinho. Wellmaker moves to 10-0, and the hype will only continue to rise. The card also saw a controversial moment when Paul Craig, on his back, delivered an up kick to opponent Rodolfo Bellato who was grounded, while delivering ground and pound to Craig. The kick landed cleanly sending Bellato back instantly protesting the kick to the referee before laying flat out on his back, when all of a sudden you see him doing the worm and trying to protect himself. Many folks speculated Bellato flopped like a fish out of water, but Bellato appeared to go out cold once his head hit the mat. UFC returns next Saturday, June 21st, for an early Fight Night north of Iran. This will be headlined by Khalil Roundtree and Jamahal Hill.
